Minutos musicales: MCFARLANE, un chiflado del "metal"

La contundente banda de heavy metal Disturbed estrena el video del tercer single de su album más reciente, Ten Thousand Fists, de cuya portada se encargaron Todd McFarlane & Greg Capullo, el equipo creativo del próximo crossover Spawn/Batman.


Después de Stricken y Just Stop, llega Land Of Confusion (una versión cañera del tema homónimo original de Genesis, la mítica banda inglesa liderada por Phil Collins) y su correspondiente videoclip, cuya realización ha sido responsabilidad de Todd McFarlane Entertainment (TME).

Mientras que en este caso Disturbed ha recurrido a McFarlane y compañía, Genesis en su momento aprovechó de la popularidad en su país de los corrosivos Spitting Image, los inspiradores de los actuales guiñoles del Canal +, para protagonizar su videoclip con muy "mala leche". Con la "guerra fría" como telón de fondo y con Reagan, Thatcher y Gorbachov como títeres principales, en él pudimos disfrutar, entre otras cosas, de un chocho presidente de USA que, antes de apretar el botón nuclear, se nos disfraza de Superman.


Volviendo a los músicos de Chicago, éstos ya tienen experiencia en versionar clásicos poperos de bandas británicas de mediados de los 80. En su primer y brutal disco, Down with the Sickness, se incluye un espléndido "cover" de Shout, original de Tears for Fears.

Por su parte, la pareja artística McFarlane & Capullo ya habían sido responsables hace algunos años (1998) de la ilustración de portada del disco Follow the Leader del grupo nu-metal Korn, y TME de la producción del videoclip del tema Freak On a Leash.
